Quarterback Jordan Love has signed a significant contract extension with the Green Bay Packers, which includes a record-breaking $75 million signing bonus.
The Packers confirmed Love’s extension in a brief social media announcement without specifying the details. However, various outlets reported that the extension spans four years and is worth $220 million, with $155 million guaranteed. This puts Love in the same elite salary bracket as the Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow and the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence, boasting an average annual salary of $55 million.

Love’s new contract will take effect in 2025, extending through 2028. For the 2024 season, he will earn a base salary of $10.5 million, according to Spotrac.
Having started just 18 regular-season games in his career, Love took over as the starter for the Packers in 2023, succeeding Aaron Rodgers. His performance in the latter half of the season was pivotal in securing his future with the team, as the Packers’ front office had emphasized the need for him to demonstrate his capabilities to remain part of their long-term plans.
Before the extension, Love was present in training camp but refrained from practicing, with his representatives stressing the importance of finalizing the contract before he resumed playing, as noted by general manager Brian Gutekunst. Love, a 25-year-old Utah State product, was selected 26th overall by the Packers in the 2020 draft.
