The Italian team has began talks with the Citizens for a potential switch for Phillips in the January transfer window.
Max Allegri will be keen to bolster their squad in midfield after Paul Pogba is more or less doomed to get a lengthy ban for drug usage.
Phillips is also keen on leaving the Etihad after not getting enough playing time. The 28-year-old has made a mere 31 appearances under Pep Guardiola since joining in the summer of 2022.
This season in particular, Phillips has only 4 appearances in the Premier League and has made the full 90 minutes only twice.
The news emerge a week after it was announced that Newcastle would also fight for the 28-year-old’s signature.
