After starting a deal extension negotiations, the Sacramento Kings and boss Brown remain open on a potential contract and have tabled discussions.
Mike has 1 guaranteed campaign left on his original 4-year deal, and there has been optimism about securing a contract that would prevent him from entering the final season of his deal in the upcoming campaign.
He led Sacramento to the West Conference postseason for the 1st time in 18 seasons in 2022-23, winning the league Coach of the Year award. Kings were 48-34 and the 3rd seed in the West in the past campaign – eventually eliminated in a 7-match series in the 1st round from the Warriors.
Sacramento was a 9th seed this campaign, defeating Golden State in the play-in competition before the Pelicans sent them home. Under Mike, the franchise is 94-70 (.573) in 2 campaign.
He is a 2-time National Basketball Association coach of the year — including with the Cavs back in 2009.
