Joel left the pitch 20 minutes before the end of his team’s 4-3 victory against Fulham at the past weekend, with tests later confirmed that he had ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.
Matip will most likely be unavailable until the end of the current campaign and is out of a deal in the summer, meaning he will not appear in another Liverpool match until he inks a new contract.
Jurgen shared that the club will support Joel in his recovery, and if it’s up to Liverpool’s boss, the defender would be offered a new deal.
“I’m almost certain that the team will show their class, just as they must.”
