Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, expressed concern about the growing injury crisis at the Premier League club, particularly in defense. Following Kostas Tsimikas’ broken collarbone in the draw with Arsenal, Klopp is now facing a shortage of options at left back, with Andy Robertson also sidelined due to a shoulder injury. To address this, Klopp plans to deploy Joe Gomez, a right-footed player, at left back until Robertson’s return.
The manager acknowledged the difficulty of the situation, stating, “It is really tough for us. You have injuries sometimes, and we accept all of them, but a broken collarbone is really bad because it just takes so long.” Klopp emphasized the need for luck in such moments and expressed the intention to protect Gomez, saying, “We will have Joey (Gomez) there, and we just have to make sure we put him in cotton wool and ensure he is always ready for the games.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming match against Burnley, Klopp recognized the challenge posed by the 19th-placed team, who recently secured a 2-0 victory over Fulham. Klopp praised Burnley’s performances, stating, “I have watched quite a few Burnley games, and I am pretty impressed by what they are doing – and on Saturday, they got the reward.” Despite the challenges, Klopp affirmed that Liverpool would be ready for the match and anticipated a competitive atmosphere.
