The New York Knicks have strengthened their bench for the upcoming season by signing veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon to a one-year contract. The deal, first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania, comes just a day after New York re-signed shooting guard Landry Shamet.
Golden State had also been linked with Brogdon, but the 32-year-old decided to stay on the East Coast and ultimately chose New York.
Brogdon signs his deal after a turbulent period with injuries that have limited his playing time in recent years. He played just 24 games last season with the Washington Wizards, averaging 12.7 points and 4.1 assists, following a trade from Portland on draft night in June 2024. The season before, injuries restricted him to 39 appearances with the Trail Blazers.

Despite those setbacks, Brogdon enjoyed a standout campaign with the Boston Celtics in 2022-23, winning the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award. Boston later traded him to Portland as part of the deal that brought Jrue Holiday to TD Garden ahead of their 2023-24 title push.
