New York Knicks can be happy as they triumphed with the NBA Cup after a win vs. the San Antonio Spurs.
The franchise from the Big Apple thinks that how they won the Cup title mattered more than the actual act of winning the trophy, as their comeback 124-113 triumph could be a harbinger for down the line.
“During the season, you try to find situations to put pressure on your players,” New York manager Mike Brown shared. “In this single-elimination competition, every match counts. There is pressure on every clash if you want to win the trophy.”
If New York is the organization that stands tallest in the East, they understand they can’t do it without Jalen Brunson. The Emirates NBA Cup MVP could have been better, but finished with 25 points and 8 assists, and while receiving the honor, the Knicks star admitted that the reserves in this match won the Cup for the team.
“Such a match is very different from the games that we play during the regular season and even in the playoffs,” Brunson claimed after the triumph.
