The Scottish player was the first to notice the signs of struggle

Nick Kyrgios expressed his gratitude to Andy Murray, acknowledging the Scottish tennis star’s support after he noticed signs of self-harm on the Australian player’s body.

In an interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored on TalkTV, Kyrgios shared, “Andy was always a big supporter of me. As soon as I came on the tour, he kind of saw a work in progress and took me under his wing. Then he realized later in my career that I don’t think I was coachable or I was on my own path, but he was always someone that was looking out for me.”

Reflecting on the critical moment, Kyrgios revealed, “He saw it (the self-harm), and he said, ‘What’s that on your arm?’ It was pretty bad at that stage. Andy obviously was trying to give me advice on it. But I was just so stuck in my ways at that time that I didn’t listen. Obviously, I’m very thankful. I thank him a lot.”

Kyrgios, who has been candid about his mental health struggles, previously opened up about his challenges in a Netflix documentary in June, where he disclosed spending time in a psychiatric hospital after his loss at Wimbledon in 2019. In February of the previous year, he wrote a lengthy Instagram post discussing his mental health struggles and expressing that he was in a much better place.
