Spain manager Luis de la Fuente has shared why he included in his squad the Catalan giants star Lamine Yamal for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, claiming that the player is in amazing shape. The call-up comes after the drama between the Spanish head coach and Barcelona amid rumors that Yamal was called up injured in September.
Barca boss Hansi Flick even criticized the Spanish football federation heavily, as he blamed them for not thinking about the health of their young footballers. Despite that, La Fuente defended his choice and shared that Lamine is in great form and the upcoming games are crucial.
Luis shared with the media that Lamine has started the last 6 games, and that shows that he is in great form:
“For me, the answer is easy. I watched his last match and I think that Yamal is in perfect shape,” shared the Spanish head coach. “Flick claimed that he is ready to be on the pitch. Yamal is getting close to being in his best form again, and he will be part of our squad as long as we feel he is ready.”
Lamine Yamal has been named the most valuable teenager in world football by CIES.
