It was a one-sided game from the get go as LAFC managed to score twice in the first half an hour, putting the tie beyond any sort of hope that Vancouver might have had.
Carlos Vela slotted an eight minute penalty, before doubling LAFC lead in the 31st. Jose Cifuentes made it 3-0 in the 65th minute long after the game was put to bed.
“Our objective was to advance to the next round,” head-coach Steve Cherundolo said.
“We’re happy with that. I’m also happy and pleased with the performance, especially over two legs. Last round, we achieved great performance in leg one, leg two was so so, but this round two strong performances. I’m very pleased with that.”
LAFC triumph sets up a 1/2 final clash with Philadelphia Union in a repeat of last year’s mouth-watering MLS Cup final.
