Third will be Norris McLaren teammate and championship rival Oscar Piastri, while the second Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton will be fourth.
World champion Max Verstappen had bad luck in his second hot lap as Pierre Gasly caused yellow flags after spinning in the last corner and the Dutch driver had to let off the gas and finished 7th.
The winner from Canada George Russell was fast enough for fifth ahead of Liam Lawson, while the surprise of the afternoon was Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto, who got his first Q3 appearance and will start eight.
The second Red Bull of Yuki Tsuonda continues to struggle with his climatization in the team and starts from the back of the grid on 18th place.
