The Catalan giants president, Joan Laporta, has claimed that he supports Lamine Yamal, labeled him an “admirable genius,” and promised to do everything in his power to protect him.
Lamine has been criticized heavily lately in the past few months. Yamal’s form dropped drastically in the last several weeks because of injury problems and scandals off the pitch. The young talent flew to Milano after the loss in El Clásico instead of returning with his teammates to Catalonia.
However, Laporta revealed ahead of his club’s clash vs. Club Brugge in the UCL today that he stands by his star and that he will do what he can to help him:
“Yamal is a genius, and he knows that he can count on me, as I always give my full support to him. Lamine is a fantastic young person and a brilliant footballer. In our club, we must do everything to protect him from outside noise. As the president of Barca, I will do what this post allows me to protect Yamal. He is still very young, and it is not easy to have all this money and influence at only 18 years old.”
🚨🗣️ Laporta: “We are very excited to return to the Camp Nou. The Friday match will be a test we must face, and I hope we can return on November 22 or 29.” pic.twitter.com/Q6Ad4KlSoN
