Jose Mourinho's side were tested to the sword, but manage to squeeze through

AS Roma managed to defeat Monza in a dramatic fashion 1-0 with a last-gasp goal from El Shaarawy, which secured them 4th straight victory on Saturday.

It was an equal game all round with neither team being able to take the edge. Each side had 4 shots on target and despite the visitors being reduced to 10 men right before half-time, Roma were unable to take advantage.

It looked certain that a stale draw would follow, but for Shaarawy’s brilliance, who directed a perfectly crossed ball from Cristante into the back of the net to send the home supporter into jubilation.

It meant a lot for the Romans as the new 3 points skyrocketed them to 6th place with 14 points out of 9 games. It also helped alleviate the pressure off Mourinho’s shoulders as poor performances has seen the Portuguese receive an ultimatum from the team.

Roma next face Slavia Prague in the Europa League, before crunch game against Inter Milan away from home.
