The Catalans won 2-1 and extended their lead 2-1 at the top of the table

Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 2-1 in the El Clasico derby of La Liga. Los Blancos were close to winning the clash, but VAR ruled second goal for an offside before Kessie’s goal that rocked Camp Nou.

Real were quick to open the scoring in the 9th minute. Vincius Junior got the all and moved towards the goal kick line. He tried a cross, which Araujo tried to clear, but headed the ball in his own goal for 0-1.

Just before the half time Sergi Roberto was in the right place at the right time to get to the rebound inside the box and shot the ball into the right side of the goal.  In the 76th minute Lewandowski was close to scoring, but his shot flew just wide of the left post. Nine minutes before the end Marco Asensio received a great pass in the box and scored with a low shot, but VAR disallowed the goal for offside.

Barcelona grabbed their golden chance in the second minute of stoppage time. Lewandowski and Balde combined on the left and the ball was sent to Franck Kessie in the penalty box, where he showed cool head and scored for 2-1.

With this win Barcelona extended their lead at the top at 12 points with 68 points against 56 for Real Madrid.
