Daniil Medvedev is the first quarter finalist in this year’s Wimbledon after his opponent Jiri Lehecka had to retire because of a toe injury.
The result was 2-0 sets in favor of the Russian before Lehecka called it a game, explaining it is hard for him to move.
Medvedev won the first set 6:4, but early in the match Lehecka asked for a medical time-out because of a discomfort in his baby toe. The physio helped him with bandaging and pain killer and it was looking like this might help him, but after 10-minute interruption because one of the spectators wasn’t feeling good on the stands, it was obvious that the Czech is feeling discomfort and retired after losing the second set 6:2.
A sad way to finish…
