The news was announced just before the 4 p.m. ET deadline, which makes the deal viable and Peoples-Jones will be heading to Detroit, while Cleveland will receive a sixth-round pick in return.
The 24-year-old has not enjoyed a good season with the Browns as he has caught just 8 passes for 97 yards, while having very little playing time.
During his stint with the Browns he has notched 117 receptions for 1,837 yards and 8 TDs in 50 games.
It is a homecoming for Peoples-Jones, who played at Cass Tech High in Detroit and the University of Michigan.
