Liverpool and Colombia forward Luis Diaz has met his father, the South American country’s football headquarters have confirmed. Luis Manuel Diaz, 58, was kidnaped by the National Liberation Army but was released last Thursday.
Diaz stayed with his Liverpool team-mates until last Sunday when the Reds beat Brentford 3-0 in a Premier League clash. Colombia will play a World Cup qualifier against Brazil on November 15.

For the time being, Luis Manuel Diaz will remain in his homeland, despite the serious shock suffered after the kidnapping.

“We are a family,” wrote the Colombian Football Federation, posting a photo of the Liverpool footballer and his father on Platform X.
Luis Manuel Díaz was held hostage by the National Liberation Army for 12 days. “I want to stay in my city together with my whole family,” said the father of the Liverpool player, quoted by world agencies.
