Inter thought that the striker, who is not part of Chelsea’s new manager plans, would return to Milano, where he played in the past campaign on loan.
But Lukaku was angry that manager Simone Inzaghi decided to use him as a substitute in the Champions League final.
Juventus also were interested in bringing Romelu but failed to make the necessary changes in the roster to be able to make a bid to the Blues for him.
His transfer to Roma means that the Belgium striker will be reunited with Jose Mourinho, who convinced him to join the Red Devils ahead of Chelsea when he moved to Manchester United from Everton in 2017.
