Manchester City have received a £120,000 fine for angrily surrounding referee Simon Hooper in their recent 3-3 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium.
A controversial decision in the 94th minute saw the match official blow the whistle for a foul on Erling Haaland even tough the Norwegian stood up and played Jack Grealish in an one-on-one opportunity against the goalkeeper.
This enraged all of the City players especially Haaland, who received an yellow card as a consequence.
The Football Association has investigated the incident and has decided to impose a fine on the defending champions.
“Manchester City FC have been fined £120,000 after their players surrounded a match official at the Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur FC on Sunday 3 December,” an FA statement read.
“Manchester City FC admitted that they failed to ensure their players did not behave in an improper way during the 94th minute.”
