Man United and Juventus clinch important wins in Europa League R16

The Red Devils won 4-1 against Betis, while the Bianconeri got only 1-0 in Turin

Manchester United put the humiliating 0-7 loss from Liverpool behind them and won 4-1 against Real Betis in their Europa League Round of 16 match at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford found the net in just 6 minutes of play as he was in the right place at the right time to find the ball after a rebound and rifled it powerfully just under the crossbar.

In the 32nd minute Betis scored for 1-1. Juanmi passed the ball to Ayoze Perez, who was on the edge of the box and fired the ball into the bottom left corner. Minute before the break Perez had e chance to score a second, but the ball rattled the post.

Once again, after just 6 minutes of play Manchester United scored again. Antony showed a terrific play and scored a banger from outside the box into the top left corner.


In the 58th the scoreline was already 3-1. Luke Shaw launched a corner kick and found Bruno Fernandes, who was able to place a beautiful shot into the net. Seven minutes before the end Weghrost scored the fourth goal for the Devils with the help of a ricochet after McTominay’s shot.

At the same time in Turin Juventus won 1-0 against Freiburg. Massimiliano Allegri had to make a force substitution inside 23 minutes at Allianz Stadium when Leonardo Bonucci left the pitch and Alex Sandro came in.

The Bianconeri scored a goal ten minutes prior, but it was ruled off for a foul from Manuel Locatelli.

After the 15-minute break the home side found its rythm and scored in the 53rd minute. Angel Di Maria burst into the box to collect a hipped in cross from Kostic and left no chance to Flekken from close range.


In the 63rd minute Freiburg also scored, but their celebrations were cut short as VAR pointed out a handball in the play before the goal.

Both return legs are on March 16 and it’s looking good for United and Juventus in their pursuit of Europa League final.
