The Red Devils made contact with the Spanish veteran before being rejected

Sergio Ramos joined his boyhood Sevilla 18 years after leaving them for Real Madrid.

However, rumors have emerged that Manchester United have shown interest in the veteran defender, before he rejected them.

Ramos became a free agent after his contract at PSG expired, having spent 2 years in the French capital.

The 37-year-old weighed up potential moves to the MLS and Saudi Arabia, before eventually settling at Sevilla.

However, his allegedly swift rejection for Manchester United is what seems to have angered the club.

It is believed the Red Devils were preparing a £73,000-a-week contract to lure the ex-Real Madrid man to Old Trafford.

The Spaniard remarked that it was pointless considering any other move than Sevilla as he feels obliged to return from where he started.

“I think it was a debt to my grandfather, to my father, to Sevillismo, to (Antonio) Puerta [a former Sevilla player who died in 2007], and many things that have meant a lot,” Ramos stated. “I think it was time.”
