Manchester United is set to sell midfielder Donny van de Beek to Girona for just 500,000 euros, potentially recording a substantial loss, having purchased him for 40 million euros from Ajax four years ago.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have agreed to the sale of Van de Beek to Girona, with an initial guaranteed sum of only 500,000 euros. However, the structure of the deal and potential bonuses could increase the final value. The agreement includes “easily achievable” bonuses worth between 4 and 5 million euros, as well as “harder to achieve” bonuses worth around 10 million euros. If Van de Beek manages to regain his form from his Ajax days, Manchester United could earn up to 15 million euros from the sale, thereby reducing their substantial loss.

Van de Beek arrived at Old Trafford in 2020 with a transfer fee of 40 million euros, but after several injuries and loan spells at Everton and Eintracht Frankfurt, the Dutchman leaves the club with only 62 appearances for Manchester United, during which he scored two goals and provided two assists.
