Kane contract expires in 2024 and if Spurs fail to qualify for the Champions league there is a high chance he would not want to extend it beyond that. That’s where Manchester United hopes lie, as they look to land a stunning move for the English superstar over the summer.
Rumours concerning Kane’s future have been circulating lately, with the 29-year-old reportedly frustrated at Spurs trophy drought. Kane has been a regular starter for Tottenham ever since 2014 and pretty much has been their star player. In those years, however, he didn’t win any major trophy, as he is arguably the only player in modern football of this high calibre to fail to lift a trophy (for club and country).
Tottenham currently sit 4th with 45 points, but are closely chased by Newcastle and resurgant Liverpool (who despite their earlier woes are only 3 points of 4th and with match in hand). Spurs’ quest for finishing 4th was badly hampered by their shocking 1-0 defeat to Wolves over the weekend.
On Wednesday, they play a crunch 2nd leg last 16 Chanpions league knockout game against AC Milan and are looking to overturn a 1-0 deficit. If they fail, that would mean another trophyless season for them, which may see Kane leaving.
When speaking about a potential new deal in January, Kane said: ‘There’s not been much talk.
‘I’m sure there will be conversations over the coming months but I’m just focused on this season and doing my best.
‘I know there are going to be rumours about my future but I’m focused on what I can do.’
