Following his transfer to the Memphis Grizzlies, Marcus Smart took a moment to bid emotional farewell to his long-time club the Boston Celtics.
Smart joined the Celtics in 2014 as the No.6 pick in the draft and has enjoyed a glamorous career at Boston, becoming a leader of one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.
“I came to Boston as a naive kid from Dallas not really knowing what to expect,” he wrote on Twitter. “All I knew was the type of work ethic my momma instilled in me and I was going to work my a– off and make sure I EARNED the respect of each and every one of the fans in Boston.”
Despite not winning a championship during that period, Smart doesn’t consider his span there as a failure.
