Galatasaray striker Mauro Icardi is reportedly on the verge of a surprising transfer to Real Madrid in January, according to Radio Marca. Rumors of such a scenario have been circulating for several weeks, but club sources quickly dismissed them.
Nevertheless, the speculations seem far from over, and the deal could happen this winter. Radio Marca also claims that Icardi will join “Los Blancos” in January with a contract worth 8 million euros plus bonuses, although the transfer fee remains undisclosed. The Argentine has rejuvenated his career with Galatasaray, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists in the Turkish Super Lig this season. He also delivered strong performances in the Champions League group stage, scoring against Manchester United at Old Trafford and Bayern Munich, despite Galatasaray finishing third in their group and moving on to the Europa League.
Real Madrid did not sign a top-class central striker in the summer after Karim Benzema’s departure, opting for Joselu as his replacement.
