Kyrie sustained the problem while training at the beginning of July.
While Dallas didn’t reveal a timetable for the guard to be cleared to return to the court, most are optimistic that Irving would recover in time to participate in training camp in about 2 and a half months.
Kyrie, an 8th-time All-Star, had a huge role in Dallas’ run to the NBA Finals. Irving averaged over 22 points and 5 assists per match during the playoffs.
The guard (32), who averaged over 26 points and 5 assists during the regular campaign, also had a vital role in convincing Klay Thompson to join the Mavericks during the free agency.
Irving was not picked to represent Team USA at the Olympics in Paris, but even if he had been selected, the injury would have forced him to withdraw from the squad.
