Lewis Hamilton among many others was left stunned by McLaren scintillating qualifying session, which saw Lando Norris seal a front-row start alongside Max Verstappen with Oscar Piastri close behind in 3rd.
The 7-time world champion, who will line up in 7th, one place behind his teammate said:
“It’s not a blow. It’s just a wake-up call for us. Others are overtaking us and we need to do more.”
It was the Woking’s team best ever qualifying session since Hamilton and Jenson Button locked out the front row at the Brazilian Grand Prix back in 2012.
Questions still remains about the orange car’s race pace, but Norris shared that he firmly believes his team can stay in the top 5 and even challenge for the podium.
