Daniil Medvedev won 6-4, 6-3 against American Marcos Chiron at the men’s tournament in Halle, with which the Russian became the first tennis player this year with 40 victories in official tournaments.
Medvedev is 40-7 for 2023, and Carlos Alcaraz is currently 35-4.
Medvedev won in just one hour and 11 minutes against Chiron after recording nine aces, three breaks and 17 winners. The Russian also parried all three of the American’s break points.

In the next round, Medvedev will meet the Serbian Laszlo Jere, who defeated the qualifier Oskar Otte from Germany 7:6(3), 6:3.
