The 1st stop of Leo Messi’s India tour took an unexpected turn as angry supporters ripped up seats and hurled objects onto the pitch, which happened at Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium.
The fans were angry that the Argentinian superstar was there only for 20 minutes, and they could not see his face. The event organiser has been detained because of that, and an enquiry began.
The 1st date of Leo’s tour in the 2nd-most populated country in the world caused chaos as disappointed supporters raged vs. the perceived poor organisation of the event. Seats were ripped up and thrown onto the pitch because they were unhappy that they didn’t have enough time to see Messi.
The Argentinian footballer is in India as part of his tour, as he has yet to visit Hyderabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi. Leo walked around Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium waving to the supporters at the venue, but a large group of people obstructed the view of many of the people in the stadium, which made them angry. Rodrigo de Paul and Luis Suarez were also part of the entourage of Messi.
