The Argentinian was once again Miami's saviour as he scored in both in regulation and in the shootout

Inter Miami came out on top in their Leagues Cup final clash against Nashville SC in a dramatic fashion on penalties (10-9) to clinch their first ever trophy on Saturday night.

Lionel Messi was once again the star of the show as the little magician scored Miami’s only goal in regulation time and also gave them the lead with the first kick of the shootout.

The penalties went down to the wire as the goalkeepers had to eventually settle the matter between themselves.

Drake Callender was clinical from the spot before making a match-deciding stop on Nashville’s Elliot Pannico.

Miami’s head coach Tata Martina was full of praise for the new players at the club as he hailed the efficiency with which they have adapted.

“We had to incorporate a lot of new players but I’m very impressed how it came together,” Martino said.

“I remember the first days (in charge), we needed to do more trainings to give shape to the team and I was thinking, how convenient it is to move on in this tournament because we can take advantage of this month to play more. But after this month, we are champions”
