The 36-year-old played against Paraguay, but his fitness is not yet 100%
Lionel Messi did make a second-half appearance in Argentina’s 1-0 win over Paraguay, but his fitness is still not up to 100%.
That may leave La Pulga to the sidelines for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers match against Peru on Tuesday.
Messi did practice with the team on Sunday, but it is unknown whether he will be fully fit for Tuesday. The 36-year-old has suffered from muscular pains in his right leg, which have sidelined him for couple of games in the MLS.
The Argentina’s captain came in the 52nd minute against Paraguay in the place of Julian Alvarez and had a sub-par performance despite hitting the post twice.
