Gimenez, with a late goal, secured the title for his country.

Santiago Giménez was the hero when he netted after a brilliant sprint in the 88th minute. Mexico triumphed in the CONCACAF Gold Cup for the 9th time with a 1-0 win vs. Panama.

Edson Álvarez blocked Panama’s player attempt to cross in the box, and Orbelín Pineda made a phenomenal pass to the centre to find Santiago. After that, the forward made it past 3 players to enter the penalty area and scored his 4th goal in 18 matches for Mexico.

The Feyenoord forward goal made Mexico fans at SoFi Stadium go wild with their celebrations as they knew that the trophy is only minutes away.

“Today it felt like it was a World Cup; it wasn’t like a Gold Cup,” shared after the game Mexico’s head coach Jaime Lozano. “I’m very happy right now with this team and what we achieved.”
