Manager Mikel Arteta expressed satisfaction with Arsenal’s summer signings, stating that they have introduced a new dimension to the squad and are elevating the performance of their teammates. Following their impressive 6-0 victory over Sheffield United in the Premier League on Monday, which matched their biggest away win in the competition, Arteta acknowledged the positive impact of the close-season acquisitions.
Players like Declan Rice and Kai Havertz, who joined from West Ham United and Chelsea, respectively, were among the scorers in Arsenal’s free-scoring display at Bramall Lane. The team’s recent success has seen them secure seven consecutive league wins, placing them third in the standings with 61 points, just two points behind leaders Liverpool.
In response to whether the summer signings have propelled Arsenal to peak form at a crucial time, Arteta affirmed, “Yes, for sure.” He emphasized the importance of selecting players who bring something new to the squad and highlighted their role in enhancing every player’s performance, as well as contributing to the overall team culture.
While acknowledging the positive impact, Arteta remained focused on the challenges ahead, noting, “They are doing that but there’s still the most important part of the season ahead, and we know that that’s the case.”
Arteta also provided an injury update on Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, who did not complete the full 90 minutes in the recent match. Saka, who felt unwell, and Martinelli, who had a slight cut on his foot, were both substituted during the game. Arteta mentioned that they would assess Martinelli’s condition to determine the extent of his injury.
