AC Milan were hardly tested as they formally confirmed their place in the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time since 2012 with a goalless draw against toothless English side Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.

The Rossoneri came to London with a 1-0 first leg lead thanks to the Brahim Diaz goal as the Spaniard shook off a slight sprain to start.
After kick-off was delayed by 10 minutes due to both team buses arriving late, Spurs were unable to overturn a one-goal deficit from the first leg, delivering a poor performance on Antonio Conte’s return to the touchline which was compounded by a late red card for Cristian Romero.
Spurs had lost four of their previous six games, including defeat to second-tier Sheffield United in the FA Cup.
The Italian side had the better of the first half and even though Tottenham marginally improved in the second, the visitors still had the better chances when Fraser Forster denied Diaz with a superb save and substitute Divock Origi hit the post in injury time.
But it did not matter as the seven-time European champions held firm to end more than a decade of waiting to reach the last eight.
The final whistle was met by loud boos from the home supporters, who have not seen their side win a trophy for 15 years and now only have a top-four finish to play for this season with Conte’s contract set to expire in 12 games’ time.
A lifetime with this Club still would never be enough ❤️🖤#TOTACM #UCL #SempreMilan pic.twitter.com/jmsqhA21Eb
