The team refused to give any specific information, but stated it fully backs Lucic and will offer support for him and his family in his absence.
Boston Police said it could neither confirm nor deny arresting Lucic early Saturday morning. A message sent to Lucic’s agent was not immediately returned.
The 35-year-old has participated in over 1,300 NHL games with the Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames.
The veteran returned to Boston on a one-year free agent contract as he aims to emulate their success from 2011, when they lifted the Stanley Cup.
However, he hasn’t played since October 21 due to injury.
When asked about Lucic’s situation, coach Jim Montgomery refused to comment.
“Our culture here is great, and we care about each other. With that, it’s not a normal day. But we’re professionals, and we have a game to play tonight. We have to get ready for it.” he said.
