The MLS Disciplinary Committee has issued two fines following Matchday 6 of the MLS season.
The situations in question are the blatant dive of Orlando City FC Cesar Araujo in the game against Nashville SC on April 1, and Minnesota United’s midfielder Franco Fragapone who has also been found guilty of simulation/embellishment for his actions against St. Louis City on April 1.
Araujo dribbled the ball in the penalty area and as he saw that he was losing control of it tried to go down in the box in an attempt to earn his team a penalty. The referee didn’t blow his whistle, but didn’t sanction the midfielder either with an appropriate yellow card that is usually given for simulation. That is why the Disciplinary Committee had to take actions.
As a result Araujo has received an undisclosed fine.
As for Fragapane’s case the yellow card of St. Louis midfielder Jared Stroud has been cancelled as does the disciplinary points accumulated by St. Luis.
Fragapone has received and undisclosed fine.
