Left-hander Jordan Montgomery will sign a 1-year, 25 million dollar deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks that features a vesting player option for a 2nd campaign, bolstering the National League champs’ rotation with the playoffs standout from the franchise that defeat them in the World Series.
The contract, which is waiting for a physical, finishes Jordan’s free agency 2 days before 1st match of the new season and could include a 2nd-year player option at 20 million dollars if Montgomery plays from the 1st minute in 10 matches. The money will increase to 22.5 million dollars if Jordan has 18 starts and to 25 million dollars if he secures 23 starts for his new team.

After hoping a few months ago to sign a 9-figure contract, Montgomery inked for a lot less than that, a coup for Arizona, whose huge acquisition, Eduardo Rodriguez, sustained an injury at the lat strain.
Jordan will become part of a rotation that includes elite baseballers, Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly, along with the young talent Brandon Pfaadt.
