Montreal’s forward Mason Toye will be sidelined for 6 to 8 weeks after undergoing a successful surgery to repair a torn left meniscus, the club announced on Wednesday.
It means Toye will miss plenty of his team’s games as he is due to return in mid-June. The 24-year old has struggled throughout his career with his fitness and is no stranger when it comes to picking up injuries.
The former US youth international has managed to start only 22 games and 41 in total after joining Montreal in 2020. He has scored nine goals and has added one assist to his name.
Toye’s absence is another setback for the Montreal team, which currently is fighting an extensive injury crises with midfielder Matko Miljevic, midfielder Samuel Piette , center back George Campbell and goalkeeper James Pantemis all missing due to injury.
