Ja sustained a subluxation of his right shoulder during a practice in the past weekend, sidelining him for Sunday’s road victory against the Phoenix Suns. Morant underwent an MRI that showed an underlying labral tear and will require a procedure to repair it, the organization announced.
Memphis superstar is expected to be fully recovered for the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign.
The franchise went 6-3 with Ja on the court, matching the Grizzlies’ win total during the 25-match ban he served to begin the campaign.
Morant will be the 2nd organization’s 2nd starter to undergo a campaign-ending procedure. Steven Adams is sidelined for the entire campaign after undergoing a procedure during the preseason for a knee problem.
Memphis is in the 13th place in the West Conference and most likely will miss the postseason without Morant.
