Jose Mourinho can be a boss very soon again, as almost certainly he will become the next manager of Benfica after Bruno Lage was dismissed after the UCL loss vs. Qarabag.
The Eagles had a 2-goal lead, but were beaten by the Azerbaijani team 3-2 at their stadium, Estadio da Luz, yesterday.
The Lisbon giants president claimed that they intend to have a new head coach by the weekend, but will not talk more about his choices at the moment, and that, according to the media, Mourinho is the favorite.
Jose has already begun discussions with the president of the Lisbon Eagles to become the boss of the team and return to his home country, 21 years after he left to take charge of Chelsea.
“The next manager of Benfica must be with a winning mentality,” shared the president of the club.
“It is not the time to talk about names at the moment, as we haven’t decided yet who he will be, and nothing is official.”
Jose started his head coaching career with Benfica in 2000, but led them for only 10 matches and left after a scandal with the president.
José Mourinho is close to a 𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐍 to Benfica, where he began his managerial career more than 25 years ago. 🦅
