Andy Murray hopes that the back injury which forced him to retire from his match against Jordan Thompson at Queen’s will not prevent him from making what is anticipated to be his final appearance at Wimbledon. The 37-year-old former world number one, who has won the Wimbledon title in 2013 and 2016, had to retire from the Queen’s tournament, which he has won a record five times, due to the injury.

Murray has expressed hope that with some rest and treatment, he will be able to compete at Wimbledon, which starts on July 1. “Let’s hope it will be OK with some rest and treatment, and I’ll still be able to play [at Wimbledon],” said Murray.
Murray mentioned that a scan on Thursday will provide more clarity on the severity of the injury and the treatment options available. “I don’t know exactly what the problem is. I hadn’t experienced that before,” he said. “I have no idea how long it will take to get better and what the treatment options are.”
Earlier, Murray had indicated that he considers Wimbledon or the Olympics as fitting stages to end his illustrious career, given his successes in these events.
