The 3-time Grand Slam champ has announced he will retire at the end of what is his 5th Olympics.
It means the final single clash of his career was vs. Jordan Thompson in the 2nd-round at Queen’s last month, when Andy was forced to abandon the match with a back problem.
The problem also led him to miss singles at Wimbledon, but he did compete a final doubles match at the place where he triumphed with 2 of his 3 Grand Slams.
Andy will partner with Dan Evans at the upcoming tournament, with the pair to face Japan’s Taro Daniel and Kei Nishikori in the 1st round.
“I decided to miss the singles to focus on the doubles with Evans,” Murray revealed.
Andy added that the 2 are in sync during the practices and that they play great as a team.
