Andy and Dan Evans were defeated 6-2 6-4 by American 3rd-seeds Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul.
Murray (37) announced before the Olympics that it would be his final tournament before retiring from tennis.
After a long hug with his teammate at the baseline, Andy was visibly emotional with the noise of the Roland-Garros supporters showing their gratitude to the legendary player.
Dan encouraged Andy to go into the centre of the court for 1 final time as he waved to all sides before leaving the complex.
A 5th Olympics is the final episode of the career of Murray, who triumphed with 3 Grand Slams and was ATP world number 1.
After a campaign disrupted by problems, including procedure to remove a back cyst just over a month ago, it was testament to the perseverance Murray has always had that he even competed in Paris.
