Liverpool’s midfielder Naby Keita will be joining Bundesliga side Werder Bremen once his contract expires.
Keita joined the Merseyside team for a then record fee of £48m from RB Leipzig.
The 28-year-old has enjoyed a highly successful stint, lifting one Champions League, Premier League and a FA Cup with Liverpool. He has made 129 appearances, scoring 11 goals.
However, last season Keita struggled with injuries and made only 8 league appearances.
Liverpool confirmed he will be departing the club in May.
“A number of clubs are obviously going to be interested when a player like Keita is available on a free transfer,” said Clemens Fritz, head of scouting and professional football at Werder Bremen.
“He suffered an injury setback at the start of this season and that meant he didn’t play as often as he’d have liked to.
“We now want to get him back to his best.”
