22-time Grand Slam champion and former world number one Rafael Nadal has shared his confidence about his return to tennis soon.
“I know it will be difficult to get back to a very high level of tennis, but if I didn’t have the hope that I could fight again, I wouldn’t be working as hard as I have in recent months. I won’t win more titles than Djokovic, but I will give myself a chance to have fun again. Until now, I wasn’t sure I would continue playing tennis, but now I think I will. The situation is developing in a positive direction.
“I’ve made big strides recently,” Nadal added. The 37-year-old was badly injured during a second-round match at the Australian Open in January 2023. He then suffered an iliopsoas strain in his left leg and has not played since and continues to recover from the injury.
