After exiting the Australian Open in the second round, the tests showed the Spaniard contracted a hip injury.
The news comes as no surprise as the 22-time Grand Slam champion to prioritize his health and recovery, especially if he wants to continue competing at the highest level at the upcoming Roland Garros, where he will want to win his 15th title.
Marin Cilic, who didn’t play at the Australian Open due to a knee injury, also withdrew from the tournaments in Doha and Dubai as he will undergo a surgery.
It remains to be seen if Nadal will be able to return to action at the Masters events in Indian Wells and Miami.
