NBA draft to become a 2-night event

The National Basketball League is very close to making the 2024 NBA Draft a 2-night event in the Big Apple.

The draft would split into 1^st and 2^nd rounds on consecutive nights – June 26^th and June 27^th-. Still, to do so, the NBA must get approval from the National Basketball Players Association before doing so.

The league and the basketballers’ union have been discussing this matter recently.

Among several reasons for making the draft 2-night event, including better revenue from broadcasting, the league and the franchises believe that the hours between Wednesday night’s 1^st round and Thursday’s 2^nd round will give organizations additional time to trade and prepare for the 2^nd night.

Franchises are not happy with the swift speed of the 2^nd round and think that having an additional day between the 1^st and the 2^nd round will help the process.
