Newcastle United have signed Southampton’s defender Timo Livramento in a deal, worth £40m in transfer fee.

The initial price is £32m plus £8m in add-ons. It is a five-year deal, which ties Livramento with the club until 2028.
“Tino is a very talented young player with an exciting future ahead of him so we are delighted to sign him,” said manager Eddie Howe.
“At 20, he already has lots of attributes that I admire, but he also has the potential and drive to really grow with this team.
“I’m looking forward to working with him and to seeing him develop in a Newcastle shirt.”
Livramento’s spell at Southampton was hampered after heavy injury in April 2022, where he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament. As a consequence the 20-year-old made only 2 appearances last season.
The youngster becomes Newcatle’s third summer signing after Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes.
