Newcastle manager Eddie Howe was delighted with the 4-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in Group F of the Champions League. He admitted that he did not expect such a result and praised his players for their performance. According to him, this is a special night for the club.
“An amazing night for us, so many stories to talk about after this game. I’m happy for the club and the supporters. What they gave us tonight was amazing. PSG are such a good team, we had to defend really well and our spirit was brilliant. We created the positives in the first half with the aggressive press which is our hallmark. I’m so pleased with the players for what they did and what they gave me. It was just a really good night. I’m happy for everyone football club. The supporters were so united behind us. I’m very pleased,” Howe said.
“It was a difficult game tactically. Two very good teams faced each other. We had to try to unbalance them and make it difficult for them to build attacks from the defense. I think the crowd helped us do that. We faced elite players but for me, this is the best way, especially here, to achieve success. The players deserve credit for how they performed today,”, he added.
Eddie Howe was full of praise for his side including goalscorers Dan Burn and Sean Longstaff who “bleed black and white.”

“I was hoping we could do what we had trained for. I think the game was even. They had situations where they hurt us and we had situations where we hurt them. We scored our goals at good times. I’m delighted with the players , who scored. I didn’t expect us to score four goals, but I’m very happy with that. I think it’s a really special night,” Howe finished.
