"My plan is to be a Nugget forever", said the Serbain superstar

Denver Nuggets fans can be relaxed—Nikola Jokic isn’t going anywhere.

The three-time MVP, who is entering the third year of his five-year contract with the franchise, chose not to sign an extension this offseason, sparking speculation about his long-term future. But speaking at NBA Media Day on Monday, Jokic made it clear where his heart lies.

“My plan is to be a Nugget forever,” Jokic said. “I think those contracts, extensions come as a reward, as something that’s natural to the sport.”

Jokic has spent his entire NBA career in Denver since being drafted in 2015, becoming the face of the franchise and leading the Nuggets to their first NBA title in 2023.

His decision to hold off on signing an extension has more to do with timing than loyalty. Reports suggest that if Jokic waits until 2026 to sign, he could be in line for a far bigger deal—potentially worth $292 million over three years, compared to the $212 million he would have earned by signing this summer.
